Learning Spanish???
So we are now in the process of thinking we will learn to speak Spanish. I realize this is a huge undertaking and must say I am not sure I am up to it. After 8 years of college I thought my learning days were over. Continuing Education here and there sure, but a new language; I hope I can do it? So I purchased Little Pima for the boys and we had our first lesson last night. This will be our Monday (or Tuesday) night routine for a few months to see how it is going. Since Chase is about 4 and Anthony is 2 we felt this was a great time to start with the basics for them and maybe Charlie and I will pick up on some things too before we start some form of formal learning. Rosetta Stone??? I must say it is a bit overwhelming, but I don't want to put it off since 3 years will fly by if I put it off. So here goes and we will see how well it goes!

We went to a local school district's adult education course for our Spanish class. It was pretty good and rather inexpensive.
ReplyDeleteWe also bought Rosetta Stone, but didn't really use it. I think I may load it on Oscar's computer so he can relearn Spanish :).
I took a spanish class for a year and a half before heading to colombia and i'm so glad I did. If it wasn't a class, i don't think I would have the discipline to stick with it. Luckily, the same place where I took also offered classes for children. Ava, who was 3 or 4 at the time, took spanish for a year, soaking all of it up as kids will do. My husband spent about 6 months or so on Rosetta Stone which I also recommend.
ReplyDeleteNow when we were there, my girls (2 and 4 then) picked up a lot of spanish and were able to communicate so well with their new older brothers. After my classes, I felt very confident that I could say whatever needed to be said while we were in Colombia. I will forever be thankful for those classes. It is so worth it to learn spanish! You can do it!
